Apple TV+ has officially renewed the show “The Big Door Prize” for a second season. The series, created by David West Read, is about a small town that is forever changed by the appearance of a mysterious machine in the general store. Starring Chris O’Dowd as Dusty Hubbard, a content family man and high school teacher, the show follows the residents of Deerfield as they reevaluate their life choices and ambitions based on the machine’s printouts.
While Dusty remains skeptical of the machine, his wife Cass indulges in the dream that there’s something bigger out there for her. The arrival of the Morpho machine forces the community to reconcile with their unfulfilled achievements in pursuit of a better future. The show’s ensemble cast also includes Gabrielle Dennis, Ally Maki, Josh Segarra, Damon Gupton, Crystal Fox, Djouliet Amara, and Sammy Fourlas.
The news of the show’s renewal comes ahead of the fourth episode of season one, which has been in production in Atlanta, Georgia for the last few months. The series is produced by Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon, and Read serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside a talented team. The creators are excited about the opportunity to continue building the magic and mysteries of the show with the ensemble cast in season two.
