Big news for Sonic and Keanu Reeves fans! The star of “John Wick” is set to voice a new character in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” Keanu Reeves, 59, has joined the voiceover cast as Shadow, a dark and mysterious figure who is sort of Sonic’s rival.
This exciting update was part of a big reveal at CinemaCon last week where Paramount showed off the first clips of “Sonic 3.” The footage gave us a peek at a down-and-out Dr. Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, who finds his way back to his evil genius self by creating Shadow.

Shadow, known for being the tough, edgy version of Sonic, first popped up in the 2001 video game “Sonic Adventure 2.”
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 became the highest-grossing video game movie ever in North America upon its April 2022 release, besting the franchise’s previous film at the time.
“Sonic the Hedgehog” started off as a surprise hit back in 2020, making $319 million worldwide. The sequel did even better, bringing in $404 million. Both movies were directed by Jeff Fowler, with Ben Schwartz voicing Sonic and James Marsden playing his human buddy, Tom.
Keanu Reeves has been all about big movies lately, coming off the latest “John Wick: Chapter 4” and “The Matrix: Resurrections” in 2021. He’s also set to appear in Aziz Ansari’s “Good Fortune” as a guardian angel and will make a cameo in “John Wick Presents: Ballerina,” which stars Ana De Armas.
So, get ready, because “Sonic 3” is gearing up to be an action-packed ride with Keanu adding his iconic voice to the mix!
