Gal Gadot has made her triumphant return to Netflix following her starring role in the record-breaking film Red Notice. Her latest movie, titled Heart of Stone, has taken the top spot on the list of English-language films for the week of August 7th to August 13th, racking up an impressive 33.1 million views.
Speaking of popular films, do you remember the Jennifer Lopez thriller The Mother? This action-packed movie made its mark on Netflix’s all-time most popular list back in June, after dominating the Top 10 for several weeks. Now, its 91-day premiere window has officially closed, solidifying its position in seventh place among Netflix’s biggest English-language films. With a total of 136.4 million views, it has surpassed Extraction and Glass Onion, pushing them down a notch.
This film’s achievement marks one of the first instances of a high-profile Netflix project completing its measurement window under the streamer’s updated viewership metrics, introduced in June. Previously, Netflix relied solely on the initial 28 days of viewership to gauge the success of a film or series. However, with the new three-month metric in play, it’s expected that shows and films may drop off the weekly Top 10 much earlier than before, as they work toward securing a spot on the all-time favorites list.
In other news, after a two-week reign at the top, the Jackie Chan and John Cena collaboration Hidden Strike has now slipped to the second spot. Making its debut at No. 3 is the documentary Untold: Johnny Football, which garnered an impressive 7.7 million views.
Meanwhile, on the TV side of things, a newcomer has taken the spotlight. The series Painkiller has claimed the No. 1 position with 7.2 million views for the week, a rarity in the world of the Top 10 list.
The remaining spots on the list are largely held by returning favorites. The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 secures the No. 2 position with 5.2 million views, while Season 1 also makes a reappearance at No. 8 with 2.2 million views.
Completing the Top 10 lineup are Gabby’s Dollhouse Season 8, Season 2 of Heartstopper, Fatal Seduction, Season 3 of The Witcher, and Season 3 of Sweet Magnolias.
