Bob Odenkirk, known for his role in “Better Call Saul,” has joined the cast of FX’s hit series “The Bear” for its second season, according to sources. The details of Odenkirk’s character have not been revealed, but it is said to be a guest role. FX and Odenkirk’s representatives declined to comment on the news.
“The Bear“ follows elite chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White, as he takes over his family’s Chicago sandwich shop after his brother’s suicide. The chaotic kitchen staff includes Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, Corey Hendrix, Matty Matheson, Richard Esteras, and Jose M. Cervantes. The show’s first season was a success and became FX’s most-watched half-hour series, winning awards from the Screen Actors, Writers, and Producers Guild.
Odenkirk currently stars as a college English teacher on AMC’s “Lucky Hank” and gained fame playing criminal lawyer Saul Goodman in “Breaking Bad” and its spinoff “Better Call Saul,” which earned him five Emmy nominations. Odenkirk is also a former writer on “Saturday Night Live” and co-creator of the sketch comedy series “Mr. Show” with David Cross. He has appeared in movies such as “Nobody,” “Undone,” and “Nebraska” and made notable appearances in “I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson” and “Little Women.” He recently released his memoir “Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama.”
The second season of “The Bear” is set to premiere in June, and the show’s first season is available to stream on Hulu. Odenkirk’s representatives include WME, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, The Lede Company, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole LLP.
