Angelina Jolie recently revealed her intention to depart from Hollywood once her ongoing divorce proceedings with Brad Pitt are finalized.
The 48-year-old actress expressed her eagerness to leave Los Angeles but cited unresolved legal matters related to the divorce as a current hindrance.
In a recent interview with WSJ. Magazine, Jolie explained that her decision to relocate stems from a desire for increased freedom, as her ability to live and travel without constraints has been curtailed post-divorce. Despite being a native of Los Angeles and the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, Jolie admitted she was never enamored with the city’s celebrity culture, viewing it as neither significant nor important.
Reflecting on her acting career, the Oscar winner noted that the expectation to be highly public was not as prevalent when she started. Jolie suggested that if she had foreseen the extent of public scrutiny, she might have chosen a different career path.
The actress also opened up about the toll her seven-year legal battle with Brad Pitt has taken on their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne. She emphasized the need for healing, stating that the divorce had impacted the entire family.
Post-Hollywood, Jolie plans to spend more time at her home in Cambodia, seeking authenticity and connection with her children, whom she referred to as her closest friends. Notably, some members of the Jolie-Pitt family have already ventured away from Hollywood, with Maddox pursuing studies at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and Zahara attending Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
