The talk of the town on Netflix is Crashing Eid, a laugh-out-loud Arabic comedy that’s taking viewers on a hilarious ride. Audiences are absolutely hooked on this sensation!
The series revolves around Razan, played by Summer Shesha, a Saudi woman residing in the UK with her teenage daughter. In a plot twist, she plans to marry a British-Pakistani man, assuming her family will readily approve. However, when she returns home during Ramadan with her fiancé as an unexpected guest, she discovers that breaking from tradition is more challenging than anticipated, leading to both amusing and dramatic outcomes.
Aboushousha, hailing from Jeddah, is gaining prominence in the Kingdom with her hit series “Rahin Altaqiq” set in a single location during lockdown and the comedic drama “Confessions,” portraying a rebellious young Saudi woman.
Known for pushing boundaries, her short film “Lucky You Are Mine” earned a grant from the Saudi Film Commission and received acclaim at the 2022 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah.
The concept for the show evolved from the idea of someone diverging from their family, ultimately shaping into a narrative about a single mother returning from abroad. Exploring the clash with family dynamics, the creators realized the story’s catalyst: Razan returning prepared to marry someone from a different cultural background.

According to Aboushousha, everything fell into place from that point. For Shesha, taking on her first major lead role as Razan was not just about the family dynamics but also the universally relatable themes that resonate with people worldwide.
Aboushousha, in a conversation with Arab News, revealed the genesis of the series. It all started with the thought of someone breaking away from their family, gradually transforming into a narrative centered around a single mother coming back from overseas.
The family conflict was sparked by the idea of her returning with plans to marry someone from a different cultural background. From this initial concept, the storyline organically developed, taking the narrative in unexpected yet intriguing directions.
