Peacock, the streaming service from NBCUniversal, has decided to add the show Pearson to its platform. This show was a spin-off of the popular series Suits, and it starred Gina Torres. Interestingly, Pearson became unexpectedly popular on Netflix over the summer.
The hope is that people who became new fans of Suits on Netflix might also discover and watch Pearson on Peacock since it’s not available on Netflix. Pearson had a short run, lasting only one season in 2019 before it was canceled shortly after the season ended.
The show Pearson revolves around the character Jessica Pearson, a powerful lawyer, as she becomes involved in the world of Chicago politics. It also features actors like Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantel Riley, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, and Isabel Arraiza. This spin-off originated from a special episode of Suits, which served as a pilot for Pearson.
The production of Pearson was overseen by the creators and producers of Suits, including Aaron Korsh, Daniel Arkin, Doug Liman, David Bartis, and Gene Klein.
NBCUniversal is hoping that by adding Pearson to its streaming service, it can attract Netflix subscribers who have been enjoying Suits. Suits had a strong presence on the Nielsen streaming charts, setting records for viewership. However, there are no plans for more spin-offs of the series in the near future, as revealed by Suits creator Aaron Korsh.
